
Darren Ash
Executive Advisor
Darren is an Executive Advisor at MSI. He is a distinguished technology executive with nearly 20 years of progressively greater senior executive experience in federal information technology and digital transformation. As the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the U.S. Department of the Interior from September 2022 until March 2025, he led the enterprise-wide technology strategy for a $2 billion IT portfolio, directing 220+ technology professionals and managing a $300 million annual budget. Prior to his role at Interior, he held two senior executive IT leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 2016 to 2022, where he led transformative IT strategies supporting 22,000 employees across 2,200+ locations across the United States.
His federal career includes senior technology leadership roles at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission as CIO (2007-2016), and the U.S. Department of Transportation as Associate CIO (2005-2007) and Deputy Associate CIO (2003-2005). Darren’s academic credentials include a Master of Science in Information Systems Technology from George Washington University, a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from American University. Darren is a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
